Now Enrolling for High School
We are excited to announce that our public charter program is expanding through high school! Starting with the 2026/2027 school year, Adeline Montessori will offer tuition-free education for high school students in grades 9-12.
What is a Montessori High School Program Like?
The Montessori Secondary II program continues the multi-age classroom model with uninterrupted periods for core work and a spiraling curriculum. Still rooted in hands-on learning and student-centered plans, the programming at this age expands to include opportunities in microeconomics, collaborative projects, and additional executive functioning skills needed in their early adult lives.
Per the American Montessori Society, the Secondary II programming focuses on 4 developmental changes happening at this age:
- Physical: Their bodies are experiencing significant physical and neurological growth.
- Emotional: This age brings to the forefront self-awareness, self-criticism, peer pressure, egocentrism, and the emotional roller coaster parents of teens know all too well. The desire for autonomy is strong.
- Social: As adolescents build their social peer circles, they are also building their own identity within them. They express their emotions and desires with courage and creativity and begin to have a broader view of what is happening in the world around them. With this comes increased risk-taking and novelty-seeking.
- Cognitive: The frequent question of “why” that appeared in early childhood starts to reappear at this age, but has a more critical-thinking aspect. They start to engage in more debate and increase their ability to reason.
Adeline will offer students class schedules that meet state high school graduation requirements within the four core disciplines: English, Social Studies, Math, and Science. Additional courses will focus on topics such as: Financial Literacy, Civics, Health, Leadership, Physical Education, Art, and Music. Students will also experience internships and job shadowing.
